Brooke Peterson

Brooke is a compassionate therapist who supports children, teens, and adults through life’s most challenging moments—including trauma, burnout, anxiety, and life transitions. She specializes in guiding young people through the chaos of growing up and helping overwhelmed parents regain balance. Brooke’s style is warm, grounded, and collaborative, blending evidence-based approaches like CBT and mindfulness with a deep respect for each person’s unique story. She is LGBTQ+ and BIPOC allied, body neutrality affirming, and committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for healing and growth.

My Story

Hi, I’m Brooke. I’m someone who’s always been drawn to understanding people—what makes us tick, what helps us heal, and how we grow through life’s messiest moments. I’m a therapist who values connection, calm, and authenticity. Whether we’re laughing, sitting in silence, or working through something really tough, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and never rushed.

I have a particular passion for supporting those who spend their lives caring for others—mental health professionals, healthcare workers, first responders, parents, and caregivers. I’m a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), and I love helping people who are feeling depleted reconnect with their sense of purpose and self. I also work well with highly sensitive people who feel deeply and notice everything—it’s a superpower, even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

Outside of therapy, I lean into the quiet. Give me a cozy space, a cup of something warm, my cat, and some birds to watch with his spoiled rotten face, and I’m in my happy place. People have told me I have the spirit of a 49-year-old, even when I was much younger, and honestly... they’re not wrong. I bring that same steady, thoughtful energy into the work I do with clients every day.

Therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about having the right support while you explore your own. I’m honored to do that work with the people who choose to meet with me.

Qualifications

Trust is the foundation for a positive relationship.

Brooke Peterson holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has completed advanced clinical training through her work in both outpatient and intensive treatment settings. She is currently completing her licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) and brings years of hands-on experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through complex life challenges.

In addition to her graduate education, Brooke is a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), a credential that reflects her specialized knowledge in supporting those who give so much of themselves to others—parents, caregivers, first responders, and helping professionals. Her background also includes experience in education and crisis intervention, offering her a well-rounded, real-world perspective on resilience, healing, and human connection.

Brooke’s academic and professional journey is rooted in a deep belief that education enhances empathy, and that well-informed care creates a stronger, more collaborative therapeutic relationship. She brings both heart and skill into every session, meeting clients with knowledge, warmth, and unwavering respect.

I offer the following broadly categorized services to support children, teens, adults, and families through a range of mental health challenges:

🧒 Child Therapy (Verbal – Age 12)

When working with children, I use a blend of play therapy and behavioral strategies to support their emotional growth and help manage behavioral concerns. I often work with children experiencing:

  • Verbal, emotional, sexual, or physical abuse

  • Trauma

  • Divorce or separation in the family

  • Blended family transitions or adoption

  • Encopresis and enuresis

  • Anxiety, sadness, or dissociation

For children under 8, I typically involve parents more heavily in the process, since you’re the ones creating structure and support outside the therapy room.

👪 Parent Consultation

I offer consultations to parents of the children I see in therapy. These sessions are a space to explore parenting strategies, behavioral techniques, and how to support your child’s emotional health.
We can focus on:

  • Behavioral interventions

  • Parenting tools and confidence

  • Understanding your child’s experiences

  • Managing parenting stress and burnout

I find parent consultations are most helpful when I’m also working directly with your child.

🧑‍🎓 Adolescent & Teen Therapy (Ages 12–18)

I support adolescents and teens who are going through:

  • Abuse or trauma

  • Family changes like divorce or adoption

  • Anxiety or depression

  • Self-harm or suicidal thoughts

  • School avoidance or truancy

  • Emotional overwhelm (what many parents call “big feelings” or “being hormonal”)

🧍 Adult Therapy (Ages 18–70)

For adults, I offer a space to process difficult experiences, explore identity, and build resilience. I often work with clients navigating:

  • Trauma or a history of abuse

  • Parenting and caregiving stress or burnout

  • Anxiety and general stress

  • Self-harm or suicidal thoughts

  • Relationship challenges and identity concerns

  • Life transitions or purpose-driven questions
